THE BEAR SPIRIT WITH DON SALADINO
~ THE IMPORTANCE OF REST ~
"Spiritual Sunday initially gives off this idea of a day of zen, a religious day of prayer. I get it. It is somewhat of that for me. But it is a day for me to reconnect with my family, to change up what I have been doing all week. This level of training, focus on improvement, and building throughout the week requires rest. Everything I have been building, whether it is building my business, my body, my family building my home, can only continue if I take time off. That level of continued effort is not sustainable without being able to take some time off. Spiritual Sunday allows me to reset and recommit to myself. An intrinsic level of recovery can take place. I change my entire routine to focus on a reconnection with myself, my family, and my core values. I can go into Monday with a high level of work ethic, attacking the week and maintaining that same level of commitment to my goals.
Sunday consists of a lot of family time mixed in with yoga, meditation, and ice baths. We make it a priority in our family to live a healthy lifestyle and have fun together.
Spiritual Sunday is how I stay committed to myself and my work. We need to stop and sharpen the ax every once in awhile and Sunday is my day to do that. This day is probably the most important day of the week because we always refer to training as building and working. The body and mind will not grow if we do not take the time to breathe. The stress of work and the demands on the body need balancing moments of rest in order to develop. Take this time to reflect and reconnect with the things that we get disconnected from throughout the week and let that be the catalyst to walk into Monday with the strength to get back to work."
